entry #10 "Medusa" by louise Bagan

    This is a really good poem "Medusa" by Louise Bogan. the author uses a lot of different techniques and literary element such as imagery in order to help the readers to understand better the poem. for example in the first stanza when the bell going to strike there is a lot of actions. also the author presented many different phrases to show how she turned into a stone. Medusa is a really good and interested history. However to get the best interpretation it is better to know the story of medusa first. I really recommend to read the story of medusa first and then read this poem by Bagan it will be more enjoyable.  

 

entry #9 "Nothing Gold Can Stay" By Robert Frost

This poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" By Robert Frost after reading it several time become one of my favorite. Before reading it I looked at the title and I didn't get any clue of what it will be about. so I started reading it multiple time. my interpretation of this poem is the power of changing. sometimes can be a change for a person, sometimes things can change and also places. that's why I think that the author used nature as a personification changes as is stated in the title "Nothing Gold Can Stay". sometime things that we really want to keep in life leave away. many changes in our life are just inevitable we can do nothing about it. I really recommend this poem to a friend because it makes us to think a lot and also to get a sense of why things change.

 

entry #8 "The Magic Study of Happiness" by Charlottes Simic

    Before reading the poem "the Magic Study of Happiness" by Charlottes Simic I had a completely different expectation of what the story really was about. when I looked at the title I thought that the poem would be about maybe the connection that magic have with happiness or how magic help other people to be happy. After reading it about 7 times or more I realized that it is completely different from what I expected.  What I came up with is the crumbs represent a young family and that in the beginning it was lake a  paradise. so I think that the table is where all the emotions were spilled over meals. A sad poem and sad time also this has an open end. what I like the most on this poem is that no matter what scenario you apply to this writing, there is no ending. I say that I recommend it to a friend because is kind of interesting poem.

enntry #7 "Oedipus The King" translated by, Dudley Fitts and Robert Fitzgerald.

       Before reading "Oedipus The King"  translated by, Dudley Fitts and Robert Fitzgerald, I wasn't familiar with the story just by looking at the title.  however, when I started reading the story, some flashback  come to my main. I started asking to my self,  where I know this story from? I know this story?. while I was reading I was also thinking about my questions. after few minutes reading I realized that I saw a play about this story when I was in high school call Oedipus the King with Christopher Plummer. so I started getting familiar with the story. What I liked the most in the story was the mystery that  Oedipus dedicates himself to the discovery and prosecution of Laius’s murderer and then he realize that king Laius was his father and that he kill his biological father and sleep with his biological mother. I would definitely recommend this story to a friend because as more you read the story become more and more interested.  

"Cinderella" by Anny Sexton, entry #6

         when I saw the title of the poem "Cinderella" written by Anna Sexton, I though that it will be the same sweet  and Childs kind story that when all already know. so at the beginning I didn't pay much attention to the story because I already have some ideas of what its about. so I decided to read the first stanza and I realized that the story written by Sexton is  completely from the original one. so I started reading it all and I realized that Sexton version of Cinderella is more deadly addresses. sometimes is vulgar, often brilliant and some time hilarious. in other words is not like the story that we all know. In my personal opinion I really likes the original version better because it can be reading by Childs as same by adults. I found that Sexton is more dramatic, like more for adults readers.   

entry #5 "The Times They Are a-Changing" by, Bob Dylan

    Before reading The Times They Are a-Changing" by, Bob Dylan I thought that the Dylan will deceiver how times change during the time or how his live changed from one point to another.
I really like this poem because the order that he wrote the poem encourage people readers to enjoy the poem. the author uses different type of literary element to help the readers to get better understanding of what he's talking about. one of those element that he use is  imagery show the readers how  some people  do in everyday life. In order to give a depth understanding he made the poem as a song. after reading the poem and listing it as a song I really recommend it to other people. first read the poem and then listen to the song.

"ask me" by William Stafford entry #4

       Before reading Ask Me by William Stafford by just looking at the title my expectations was completely different from what it was after reading. when I started looking at the tittle I also started thinking to my self what he mean by that title "ask me"? its this poem about just asking question with no meaning. however after reading the poem about five times because it was kind of hard to understand. after those five times reading it I finally get Stafford point and the compilations that me make with humans lives with the river and it current. I found this poem a really good poem because it show to the reader that no matter what you have done in the past life still go on. and that many time the flow of a river and it current can symbolizes the flow of life. I really recommend to other people read this poem, even thong if they have to read it five times like I did, but is a really good poem by William Stafford

entry #2 the storm

before reading the "Storm" by Kate Chopin I have expected a whole different story just by seen the title. when I saw the title I though that the story would be about just a terrible storm that had destroyed a city or a house or something, but after I started reading I realize that the story was completely different from what I was expecting. what I liked the most was the way that the story took place and how the women took the advantage of the storm to cheat at her husband. I would do recommend the story to other people because this is a really interesting story.    

Entry #3 the yellow wall paper

Before reading "The Yellow Wall Paper" by, Charlotte Perkins Gilman I asked to my self what is this story about? why the author called like that?. I started thinking like its this story about like someone living in a house with yellow wall or what. however after that I started ready the story I fount out that it was about something completely different from what I thought. after that I read the story I really enjoyed reading "The yellow wall Paper" because all the suspense and the emotions of everything going on in the story makes the ready feel intersect of keep ready trough the end. I really recommend this story because is a really good story to read, I love it.

A Rose for Emily

 

Before reading this poem my expectations were completely different from what it was after reading it. I thought that the poem will be about a fiancé that he had and he brought her a rose.  I think that A rose for Emily is a really good story that makes us to think what really was going on in her mind after her father died and why she want to keep the dead body.  one of the main themes in the story is death or the main theme. Everybody in the small town  felt sorry for Emily when her father died. He left her with the house with no money. When he died, Emily didn't want  to admit that he die for three  days. The town didn't think she was crazy, they just assumed that she just didn't want to let go of her dad, even though that he had stolen her youth from her by over controlling her. another theme in the story is the fact that Emily struggling to maintain tradition because she want to make her father proud of herself and also to please herself  and society. I really recommend this poem to other people who want to read it because is very interesting poem.
